Mos Maiorum IGT

Mos Maiorum IGT

80% Vernatsch, 12% Lagrein, 8% G'salzne, Edelschwarze

Mos Maiorum is Latin and translates freely as 'in the custom of our forefathers'. This is how St. Magdalener was made a century ago. The grapes come from our oldest vineyard, which is over 80 years old and has remained in its original field blend to this day. Some of the varieties have long since fallen into oblivion.

The vines thrive at 370 m above sea level on a steep, rugged south-west-facing slope. The yield is approximately 5,000 kg/ha. After temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine matures in 500-litre wooden barrels for 15 months.
